How to play
In Anky’s Lunchtime Letters, it’s lunchtime and Anky is hungry! Players help Anky by clicking on the lettered plants in the correct order. Children match uppercase and lowercase letters while feeding Anky the right plants. As they progress, they strengthen their ability to recognize letter pairs and identify alphabetical order in a fun, interactive way.
Benefits:
This game builds foundational literacy skills by reinforcing uppercase and lowercase letter recognition — a critical early reading skill for Pre-K through 2nd grade. Matching letter pairs improves visual discrimination and strengthens memory connections between capital and lowercase forms. The playful dinosaur theme keeps children engaged while reducing frustration that can sometimes come with early reading practice. Because it feels like a game instead of a worksheet, children are more motivated to practice repeatedly, which builds confidence and fluency.
How to Incorporate into Learning:
Teachers can use Anky’s Lunchtime Letters during literacy centers or as a warm-up before phonics lessons. It works especially well when paired with hands-on activities like magnetic letters or alphabet flashcards. At home, parents can sit beside their child and encourage them to say each letter name aloud before selecting it. To extend learning, ask: “Can you think of a word that starts with this letter?” This connects letter recognition to phonics and vocabulary development.
